Concealed observation/shadowing at POS

41concealed observation

Concealed observation conducted at a POS enables us to examine customers' natural buying behavior directly, objectively, in an authentic manner and without bias. In the survey which follows, customers are challenged to reflect on their behavior and to try and explain it.

This combination of observation and survey enables us to obtain a comprehensive picture of how consumers really act, how they form their decisions and priorities when at a POS.

Some of the areas we analyze are:
• Shopping behavior when viewing items on the shelf, how they react and how long they linger
• Information behavior, handling, trying out and testing
• Contact ratio, conversion ratio
• Shopping mission, buying plans, first purchase, repurchase, spontaneous purchase
• Perception, use of offers and savings
